Well, it turns out that I’m an moron… either that, or it’s the sims 3 producers for not making it obvious how to do better …I’ll just keep telling myself that ;).
Anyway, the sims 3 producers recently posted some Showtime tips – I’ve selected some of the most helpful – and surprising – ones, so read on to find out more:
- Know your audience! While your Sim is performing, keep an eye on the audience requests via thought bubbles. Performing requests will result in a better performance and increase long term relationship status!
- If you can manage to set up your Sim’s (or a visiting Sim’s) stage, using all of the props available in a complete stage set, you will get an initial boost in the performance!
- Another way to get an initial boost is to place a new magic gnome on stage as part of the set-up!
- If your Magician Sim dies while performing in the Box of Danger, he/she will finish the show as a ghost!
- It’s all who you know! Developing a relationship with proprietors prior to auditioning will increase your chances of getting a gig.
- If your Singer Sim is multi-talented and wants to perform with a guitar, all you have to do is buy one and put it in his/her personal inventory!

Look! Part one’s here
Is the sims tiring you out? Read below for more ways to shake up your game! (Warning: The term “shake up your sims” is figurative. Literally “shaking up” your game could result in the damage of many of your computer’s components.)
6) Be sadistic
Had a rough day at work? Dying to take out your anger on something that won’t result in expensive repair costs? How about creating the person you’re angry with in CAS and, well… need I say more? 😉
7) Create a neighbourhood of sims made only by yourself
Ever wondered what it’s like to be part of the EA team working on the sims? Well, now you don’t have to… Kind of. Start a new game, get rid of those boring ol’ premade neighbourhood sims, and try populating the now bare shell of a town with your very own creations. Want drama to kick off? Create a household of sims with completely opposite traits and see just how well they get along..!
8) Complete the Legacy Challenge
It’ll take a lot of your time, but you’ll be able to interact with other simmers part-taking too. For full rules, go here.
9) Make your own house
Don’t know where to start when it comes to house building? Try recreating your own dwelling in virtual reality – and if you really want to take it a step further, create you and your housemates too.
10) Marry every sim
You’ll need to turn off story progression and change your sim’s lifespan in the game options tab, but once you’ve done that, try to have been married to every single young adult/adult/elder in the neighbourhood at some point in your sim’s life. Just make sure the break ups aren’t too messy!
It can get awfully depressing when you think about life – you’re born, you live, maybe have kids, and eventually die. That’s pretty much what the Sims is all about. How lovely.
So in an attempt to break free of the mundaneness of both actual and virtual life, I’ve gathered a few tips to help “spice up” the lives of your sims. Spicy.
1) Turn on TestingCheatsEnabled True
Shh! Cheating is bad… But can open your game to a whole host of new features – and TestingCheatsEnabled True, the mother of all cheats, will enable you to realise the full potential of your sims’ lives. Go on, you know you want to…
Side note: Open the cheat bar by clicking Ctrl-Shift-C all at the same time. It’s easy finding it in virtual life, however, I’m yet to discover how to get it open in real life…
2) Play life in Ultra Speed
Normal speed is for wimps – I dare you to play your game on ultra speed, and then see how easy it is to cater for your sims’ needs – especially with a large family. Just don’t give in to temptation by pressing the normal speed button!
3) Complete Every Lifetime Wish and Unlock Every Reward
Granted, this isn’t something you’ll be able to do in one sitting, or maybe even twenty – but once you’ve done it, you’ll have a great feeling of self satisfaction – not to mention the realisation that you’ve wasted most of your time on the computer. Uh oh.
4) Make some babies!
Thinking about this from a purely strategic point of view, surely the main objective of life is to reproduce? So why not have your sims have as many kids as they can. They’ll have fun, and who knows – you might too. Or alternatively, you’ll feel like a creep for watching virtual people woo-hoo all day.
5) Play with genetics
One of many great things about the sims is the endless number of possibilities you can play around with – and one of these things is genetics. Create a hilariously ugly sim, and make them have a child with an insanely good-looking one. Play around. After all, that’s what the Sims is all about…
Spicy enough for you? If not, don’t worry – part 2 will be up soon.
Have a nice day!
